This week in science we have been investigating thermal insulation. This was our investigation prompt... What do you think? Theo used a wrapped ice cube to help him to investigate this. He thought that the snowman in a coat would melt fastest because coats are meant to keep us warm.  He predicted that an ice cube that was wrapped up would take a shorter time to melt than an unwrapped one.  Take a look at Theo's findings...

This week we have been planing our dream holidays.  There has been some incredible work completed on our Google Classroom! Theo wrote a diary entry of a single day from the holiday: Sunday 7th February 2021 It's nearly my bedtime while I am writing this. Today has been a tough one, as we went on a long walk. My fitbit says I have done about 30,000 steps today.  It was a new morning and I knew what was coming, I felt tired already even though I hadn't even been anywhere yet. As I got out of the bed, I had a weird backache; this didn't last for long, but it did hurt at the time. Once everyone in the room was awake, we went for our breakfast. It was actually really nice as I had the special breakfast of the day, which included a corn wrap with lettuce, cheese and tomato.  As we were about to get into the car, one of the hotel staff members kindly gave us a lunch box for me and my sister. On the...

Challenge time!

Image
Dear diary, It has now been 2 years since we moved here. Leaving Earth was tough, but we are beginning to feel more at home with every single week that passes. When we came to our new home, we were allowed to bring everything with us from our Earth homes. It still feels a bit strange though. Life without gravity really takes some getting used to! Can you continue the diary? What is gravity? Can you include descriptions of what it is like to live without it? Where is it that you now live? How is it different from your previous life? How do you spend your time? Do you prefer living in your new home?  Can you include an image of where you live now?

Madison's Story

Take a look at Madison's story! She used the last challenge piece as her opener... The Great House had many hidden treasures. As a 10-year-old girl, many of the rooms were out of bounds for Elsa, but her desire for adventure often got the better of her… She peeked back over shoulder to check that the coast was clear. She could hear one of the butlers clattering around in the kitchens at the far end of the hall; no one knew she was there. She carefully turned the ornate, golden door handle, hearing the mechanism inside clunk, and eased the heavy, wooden door open just enough to slip inside the room. Immediately, Elsa was bathed in light as it poured down from the circular windows in the ceiling. She could see dust dancing in the beams of sunlight. With a flutter of excitement inside her chest, she strode confidently into the centre of the room, her shoes click-clacking off the chessboard-like floor. She loved this library – it felt like sh...
