This week is Poetry week and we have started the week off by welcoming Lauren Kara to Iveson. She worked with all of KS2 to share some of her own poetry. We then had a go at writing some of our poems.
In DT, we are making a toy with a CAM mechanism for a shop window. Our aim is to attract more people into the shops instead of buying online. We have been creating our designs using CAD (computer aided design). Here are some examples:
Today we have Today, we have been considering our descriptive vocabulary. This is twinpics.ai which gives you a daily picture and you have a 100 characters to describe the picture to AI. AI will then generate a picture based on your description and score it (as a percentage) against the original. On our first go we achieved 75%!
This week we took part in a coding workshop and created our own shark game! Here is an example of the game we were creating: Instructions Make the shark eat the fish. Every fish eaten earns you one point. You have a 20 second time limit. Press space to change between mouse controls and arrow key controls.
Using Wolf Brother we created our own suspenseful narratives. We then used AI to generated the next paragraph in our story. This helped us to see if we had included enough detail and cohesion in our writing as AI needs us to tell it exactly what we want for the greatest results! Take a look at some work samples from the week.
This week, we have begun our materials topic by exploring different materials. We investigated which material is best to use for a chopping board. It needed to be nonabsorbent, hard-wearing and wipeable. Our findings were that plastic offered us the best characteristics for a chopping board.
